Website design in Clermont
Copperfield is gone. Blair Athol was worked out. Clermont is still here, because the country underneath it never stopped running cattle. We build websites for the businesses that intend to be here for the next cycle too, from an Emerald studio just down the Gregory.
Get a free quoteClermont has been a town since 1862, which makes it older than Emerald and one of the oldest in this part of Queensland. It has watched a copper town, a gold rush and a major coal mine come and go while the grazing country underneath it kept running. Businesses that last here are built for the long haul rather than the good year, and we think a website is worth building the same way.
Clermont has outlived every boom that built it
Clermont was a town before Emerald existed. There was a settlement on the northern bank of Hood's Lagoon by 1862, and within a year the Peak Downs Copper Company had found a rich lode a few kilometres south and thrown up a whole town beside it called Copperfield. Copperfield had a couple of thousand people, three hotels and a smelter going. It is a memory now. Then came the gold. Then the coal: Blair Athol carried this district for decades, was worked out, and closed in 2012, before new owners restarted it in 2017. Glencore's Clermont Mine runs a short distance north west of town today.
Underneath every one of those booms, the same country has been running cattle and sheep the whole time, with grain on top of it. That is the real story of this town, and it is not the story of a mining town. It is the story of the one place in the district that kept going while the booms around it came, made a lot of noise, and went.
Anyone who has been in business here a while understands this without being told. You do not bet the operation on the cycle. You build the thing that is still standing when the cycle turns.
The same logic applies to what you put online
That is the most useful thing we can say to a Clermont business about a website, and it is not the pitch you usually get.
The web industry sells to the boom. A free page thrown together in a good year. A cheap platform that seemed fine until the monthly price climbed and the thing got slow. A builder who took the deposit in a busy season and cannot be raised now. A fair few businesses here have one of those sitting on their domain right now, put up during a decent stretch by someone long gone, quietly doing them no favours in front of every customer who checks.
What lasts is what you actually own, so that is what we build. A site that is yours rather than rented from a platform that can reprice it whenever it likes. Built to load on an ordinary connection and stay quick as you add to it, instead of getting heavier every year. A fixed price agreed before anything starts. And the person who built it still picking up the phone in three years, when the business has changed and the site needs to change with it.
That matters more here than it does in a city. The businesses that last in Clermont are the ones still standing for the next cycle. Your website should be built on the same assumption you already run the rest of the place on.
The town moved itself uphill rather than patch it
There is a reason Clermont's streets sit where they do. In December 1916 the water came up nearly nine feet in half an hour and killed sixty five people out of a town of about fifteen hundred. Afterwards, they did not rebuild where it stood. They put the surviving timber buildings on rollers and dragged them onto higher ground with steam traction engines, and that is where Clermont has been ever since. A replica piano still sits up a tree in town, because three real ones were found in trees once the water went down.
We would never pretend a website is remotely comparable to that. But it is the same call, at a far smaller scale, that we end up talking through with businesses here most weeks. When a thing was built on the wrong ground to begin with, another patch is usually the expensive option. Sometimes the honest answer is to shift it to where it should have gone in the first place and stop paying for the mistake every year.
The check happens before the call
Worth being concrete about who this is actually for. If you contract, it is normal in Clermont to do dam work or clearing for a station one week and a job inside a mine gate the next, and both of those people will form a view of you online before they ring. If you are on the main street, you are serving a workforce, a farming district and whoever is coming through the highway junction, because the Gregory and the Peak Downs meet in Clermont and the town is the road inland from Mackay. If you run cattle, the buyer or agent sizing you up is often hours away and has never met you.
Not one of those people is going to ring first and look second. That is the job of the site: hold up under the check, whoever is doing the checking. One practical note while we are here. If you are dealing with permits or a council process, Clermont sits in the Isaac Regional Council area rather than Central Highlands, even though the town looks to Emerald for plenty else.
We already run into Clermont every week
We are based in Emerald, just over a hundred kilometres south down the Gregory, and we will be straight with you: we are not in town. But Clermont is not a pin we dropped on a map to pad out a service list. Emerald Freight Services, a business whose site we built, runs a weekly freight route into Clermont. The Central Highlands Junior Rugby League, whose site we also built, counts the Clermont Bears among its clubs, so Clermont kids are in the fixtures we help publish every season.
You also get what a country business actually wants out of the arrangement: no capital city overheads buried in the quote, and nobody sitting between you and the person doing the work.
Build it once, properly, and keep it
If you have been putting this off because the last website went stale, got expensive, or was abandoned by whoever made it, that is a fair reason to be wary and we would rather hear it up front than talk around it. Tell us what the business does and what the last attempt cost you. We will come back inside a day with a straight scope and a fixed price. After that it is yours to keep, which is how everything that has lasted in this town has managed it.
The local economy
What Clermont businesses need online
Grazing and agriculture
The cattle properties and rural businesses that are the backbone of the district. A credible site is how a buyer, agent or supplier a few hours away finds you and takes you seriously.
Mining and contracting
The contractors and service businesses tied to the surrounding coal operations. A clear, professional site that gets you shortlisted for work rather than passed over.
Main street retail and services
The shops, cafes and services that hold a country town together. A simple site and a sorted Google profile so locals and travellers passing through can actually find you.
Clubs and community
The sporting clubs, groups and events that matter in a town this size. Sites that handle registrations, sponsors and news without a volunteer fighting a clunky platform.

Website design in Clermont, answered
Are you local to Clermont?
We are based in Emerald, in the Central Highlands, and Clermont is part of our district. We already serve the area through our existing clients. Emerald Freight Services runs a weekly freight route into Clermont, and the Central Highlands junior rugby league body we built for administers clubs across the region including Clermont. So while we are not physically in town, we are a genuinely regional studio that knows it, not a city agency reading off a map.
Is a website worth it for a business in a town this size?
Often it is worth more than in a city, not less. Your customers, buyers and suppliers frequently cannot just drop past, so your website does the work of a first impression and a shopfront for people who are not local. It is how someone hours away decides you are worth a call, and it lets you reach past the handful of people who already know you by name.
My customers are spread across the region. Can a website help with that?
That is exactly where it earns its keep. When your buyers, agents or clients are scattered across the Central Highlands and beyond, a clear, credible site is how they check you out, see what you do and get in touch, at any hour, from wherever they are. It quietly widens your reach without you having to be everywhere at once.
Will people actually find my Clermont business on Google?
We build every site to be fast and set up properly for search, and we sort your Google Business Profile so you show up on the map for local searches. Competition for searches in a town like Clermont is lighter than in a city, so a well-built site has a genuine shot at being the clear local answer for what you do.
What does it cost?
We price the job before we begin, and that price is the price. A professional site for a rural business, a shop or a trade is an accessible starting point, and anything bigger is quoted to match. Tell us what you need and we will come back with a clear quote, usually within 24 hours.
