O.N.O Rural

What we built

O.N.O Rural is a national marketplace for the bush — a single place to buy, sell and hire livestock, machinery, vehicles, farm property, wool, produce and more, right across Australia. We took on a full rebuild: a fast, clean multivendor marketplace website, backed by native mobile apps on both the App Store and Google Play.

From bloated to fast

The old site was a slow WordPress and ACF build weighed down by dozens of plugins, and it barely registered any traffic. We replaced the lot with a lean, purpose-built platform that loads fast and is genuinely easy to use. It is built around how rural buyers and sellers actually work: a seller can post a listing in minutes with photos, a buyer can search and filter down to exactly the category, machine or class of stock they are after, message the seller directly, and bid when a listing goes to auction. Alongside the classifieds sits a service directory for finance, agistment and transport — the practical things that turn a listing into a done deal. The change showed quickly: multiple rural advertisers reached out in the first week after launch.

The native app

The app is where it earns its keep. Native on both the App Store and Google Play, it lets people post from the paddock, get instant alerts the moment something they want is listed, and manage their listings from anywhere — no waiting until they are back at a desk. For an industry that does most of its work a long way from a good internet connection, an app that works in your hand is the difference between catching a sale and missing it.

Built for the whole country

This is the kind of work most web shops will not take on — a full multivendor marketplace with auctions, messaging and a matching pair of native apps, built to run at national scale. It is exactly the sort of ambitious, data-driven build a serious rural business needs, and proof that we do a great deal more than websites.
